Lovely Day

Today is a lovely day, not too hot, and it’s the Celtic Festival!   Woot woot!  Men In Kilts, oops, I mean Irish musci, Irish dancers and good food and fun vendors.   I’m going to post some pictures at the end of this blog.

But first, I thought, because it is such a lovely day, it would be the perfect day to display my Lovely Blog Award.   I received it a couple of weeks ago, but had to wait a bit before I posted it because there are conditions.   One of the conditions is that I nominate other blogs for this award and the blogs I happened to be following already had awards so I went in search of other blogs.  What an adventure!   Most of the blogs I have been following are jewelry blogs because, well, that is what I do and  I like to keep up with what other jewelry makers are doing.

My search led me here and there on WordPress and I found some lovely blogs, so, here we go:

First condition:   Display the award on my page

the lovely blog award

Second Condition:  Link back to the person who gave me this award.   That would be Not So Fancy Nancy.  She’s a very interesting lady who talks about many different things but she is most famous for her series about WWII and her father’s letters from that era.   Check her out.   You’ll find a new friend, I’m sure.

Thanks so much, Nancy!

Third Condition:   Tell 7 unknown fun facts about myself.   Oh brother, here we go.

A.  When it rains, I am worse than a little kid.   I love to go splashing around in mud puddles.

B.  When I was in my late 30’s the teen age boys in the neighborhood gave me their hand me down jeans.   I had no butt at all and boys jeans fit me better than girls jeans.

C.  In the summer, I feed the big black and yellow “banana spiders” in my yard.

D.   I am a prankster, a master prankster.  Here’s a story to illustrate.  The guy who worked 3rd shift  at the store was a big black fella, looked like a football player.   He just happened to be deathly afraid of spiders, even tiny ones.   Suddenly, our store became the home for about 35 rubber spiders, plastic spiders and little hairy home made spiders and even a fake dead rubber rat.   They would appear in the cash register, in the beer cooler, in corners where he had to go get cases of pop to stock.  He never let me down.   He would always scream bloody murder and run across the store.   Once, he even called me at 3 in the morning to tell me he hated me.   He was laughing though, so I don’t think he was serious.

E.   I am superstitious about some things.    I think the number 13 is a lucky number and 1313…………well, that’s the Munster’s address, how lucky could you get?

F.  I have big feet, sort of like Hobbit feet.

G.   I believe in ghosts.   There is one at the store where I work.   I call him Roy.   Doors open and close when no one is there.  Things fall off the shelf.   Once I told the new 3rd shift girl about Roy and she got so scared that night that she quit…….called my boss and told him she was leaving, left the door unlocked and took off.   Man, did I get in trouble over that one!

Okay, that’s enough facts.

Last condition:  Nominate some other folks for the lovely blog award.   Check out their blogs and tell me what you think.

1.  Linda Landig’s Blog.   You knew I would do a jewelry blog first, right?   Linda is a talented artist who makes beautiful things.   She also participates in I Heart Macro Sunday and takes some really great macro photos.

2.  Morning Bray Farm.   I love the donkeys the best, the pictures of them and their sweet faces, but I like the other posts also.

3.  A Mandala a Day.   Beautiful mandelas.   Check them out.

4.  Reinventing the Event Horizon.   Enjoying the creative side of some interesting ladies.

5.   Among the Crystals, Dragons and Fae.   Lots of interesting things about crystals, chakras, dreamcatchers……….well, you get the picture.

6.  Breathe Lighter.   An eclectic blog, one that helps you stop and “smell the roese” or take a break in a demanding world just to appreciate some things you may take for granted.

7.  Aesthetic Perspective.   A different view, one I enjoyed.

All righty then…………I hope you enjoy visiting these blogs.   I sure did.

As promised, here are some pictures of my “lovely day” at the Celtic Festival.

bandstand

The scree of bagpipes, the wail of the fiddle and men dancing around on stage…..woot woot!!!!

SLIDE

My favorite of the bands………..the awesome group, SLIDE!!!

dogs can join the fun

Even the pets can join the fun………..oh, I just noticed there is a man in a kilt in this picture…………LOL

What a lovely day!

  1. Great Job and I find we have a lot in common! I love being in the rain and stomping in puddles, I love your prank and would have done the same. I use to wear guys jeans in fact I wore a pair to the hospital when my daughter was born. I have really big feet and I believe in ghosts, I have seen one. Well more than one but have only seen one full body ghost. Now I am off to check out your nominees! You did a fine job!
    Hugs!
